Giving caring hands to flood victims in Quang Binh province

The severe flood taking place in the central provinces of Vietnam two weeks ago has caused devastating effect on the life of many people in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue. According to the report of the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control, the number of deaths has increased to 52 with 24 people missing and 19 people injured. Thousands of houses were destroyed and heavily flooded. Losses and damages are estimated at over 400 billions VND.

Of the four flood- stricken provinces, Quang Binh was the hardest hit area with 36 deaths, 14 missing and 11 injured. The people here are now in serious lack of food, clothes and clean water.

To assist flood victims in this province, Siemens Vietnam employees have donated a total of 8.2 million cash. This money was hand-delivered to the Management of Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) by SLV representatives on 12th October 2010 in Hanoi. A solemn reception ceremony was held at the headquarters of VRC with attendance from representatives of the International Red Cross and many VRC employees.
