On 12th November 2011, in Phuoc Khanh commune, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province, the inauguration ceremony of Nhon Trach 2 Combined Cycle Power Plant took place successfully with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, former President Nguyen Minh Triet and many other senior leaders of the Party and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. According to the report of Petro Vietnam Nhon Trach 2 Joint Stock Company, this project has gained 4 “best”: the safest, the most effective, the shortest construction schedule and the most economical. This is the result of the outstanding cooperation between all parties involved in the project on the part of Lilama, Petro Vietnam Nhon Trach 2 Joint Stock Company, PVC and Siemens.
Siemens supplied the power block comprising the power plant’s main components – the gas turbines, heat-recovery steam generators, steam turbine, generator, and the instrumentation and controls. After Phu My 2-1 Extension, Phu My 3, Ca Mau 1&2, this is the fifth combined cycle power plant that Siemens has successfully implemented thus reassuring its leading position in this field in Vietnam.
With an installed capacity of approximately 760 megawatts (MW) and an efficiency of over 57 percent, Nhon Trach 2 will make an ecofriendly contribution toward solving the current power shortage in southern provinces as well as meeting the country’s significant increase in power demand.
