Winners of ASEAN’s first Green Technology Journalism Awards

On the evening of 14 February 2011, ten journalists across six ASEAN countries were named winners at Siemens’ inaugural Green Technology Journalism Award gala ceremony. Chosen by a distinguished and independent panel of judges from various industry sectors, they were recognized for their exemplary reporting on issues relating to energy efficiency, industrial productivity, and sustainability in this first of its kind award program in ASEAN.

Over 190 entries published from 1 January to 31 December last year were received from print and online media based in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

News articles in English and the local languages were evaluated based on relevance to topic category, news value, as well as writing and language technique.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung of the Vietnam Investment Review was the only Vietnamese reporter to receive the special mention prize for his piece on Vietnam’s efforts to build a low-carbon economy in face of rapid industrialization (“Economy’s green colored vision”).
