The “First German – Vietnamese Business Conference on Climate Change and Energy” was organized on 21st April 2010 in Ho Chi Minh City as one of the most important events under the umbrella of German Year in Vietnam. Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder was the Honored Guest of Speaker together with Mr. Wolfgang Dehen, Siemens AG CEO of Energy and Managing Board Member but both of them couldn’t attend the event at the last minute due to a force majeurs reason. Mr. Lothar Herrmann took over Mr. Dehen to make a presentation on: “Combating climate change through technological innovation” and to join the panel discussion. Siemens has also had a small exhibition on “CO2 Untdown – Innovations for Climate Protection” at the conference site.
The event took place with great success. It has attracted more than 250 representatives from German and Vietnamese business communities and generated substantial press coverage. Participants were very pleased with the quality of Siemens presentation and especially with the quality of the panel discussion. The Q&A session was very exciting with tough questions from participants and excellent answers from panelists.
Panelists: H.E. Mr. Rolf Schulze, German Ambassador to Vietnam; H.E. Mr Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Industry and Trade; Mr. Lothar Herrmann, Siemens ASEAN CEO; Mr. Alain Cany, Chairman, European Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Anton Knijf, Vice President of International Affairs, Metro Group.
