On 22nd May 2013, the handover ceremony of a package of automation equipments sponsored by Siemens Vietnam Industry Automation took place at Can Tho University as part of Siemens’s strong commitment to further support the engineering education in Vietnam. The different packages will also be offered to three other big universities in Vietnam including Saigon Technology University, Vietnam-German Center of the University of Ho Chi Minh City Technical Education and Nha Trang University.
The total value of this sponsoring project by Siemens is US$ 55,000, thanks to it hundreds of engineering students can apply what they learn as theory into practice. The project is, therefore, believed to make critical changes towards advancing future generation of Vietnamese engineers and scientists.
The new automation training room at Can Tho University will be set up on the basis of Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) concept – the most advanced technology in the field nowadays. Siemens will provide training equipment that include Siemens’ logic modules and SIMATIC S7-1200 controllers, HMI (human-machine interface) Panels and SCADA system for trainings of automation control and engineering. Training of trainers will also be provided by Siemens to ensure a smooth operation and optimal utilization of these equipments.
“With these equipments, we wish to support Can Tho University in fulfilling its important role as the biggest education, training and research center in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, as well as to offer the students the best practical exposure to the world’s state-of-the-art technology, thus enabling them to acquire useful knowledge and skills for their future career development,” said Dr. Pham Thai Lai, Presidents and CEO of Siemens Vietnam.
